BBC Radio 4 Extra - Hidden Treasures, A Criminal Practice by Terrance Dicks Idealistic Matthew Larrabie joins his uncle's firm of solicitors.

On 12 February, Radio 4 Extra is repeating A Criminal Practice, a comic play by Terrance Dicks a year before he joined Doctor Who. Iโ€™ll share some background details nearer the time. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Would Orson Welles want his lost classic restored by A.I.? You mean the same Orson Welles who, when Ted Turner was leading the charge to colorize black & white movies, famously proclaimed "don't let Ted Turner deface my movie with his crayons"? I think I can make an educated guess here.

As itโ€™s LGBTQ+ History Month I thought Iโ€™d share some bits from my new book Tales of the Suburbs: LGBTQ+ Lives Behind Net Curtains (out in mid March) just to give a flavour of what was going on beyond the privetโ€ฆ

Had a look at a copy of NF Simpsonโ€™s absurdist comedy One Way Pendulum Iโ€™d โ€˜tapedโ€™ off Talking Pictures a while back... Dialogue sounded ok but the music and effects were weirdly echoed and distracting. Hoping it might come round again (and in better shape). Anyone else notice this?

My best friend died 2 months ago aged 30. Yesterday we had his memorial. It was a beautiful day but, because he didn't have a will, his estranged family took his body away from us. His partner of 13 years doesn't know when or where he was buried. Please please make a will x

Hey, creative people! Just a heads up that you will be told "Wait, be patient. Your time will come" right up until you're told "You've had your time. Best step aside." It will even weirdly overlap in the middle.

Ignore both because they are both complete bullshit.

Most people don't realize the truly staggering rate of improvement of renewable technologies - the pace has been *insane* and costs have fallen through the floor.

I used to be paranoid about that but I find if the label gets slightly damp it doesnโ€™t seem to dry stained or crinkled somehow

Iโ€™ve got a lot bolder on what Iโ€™ll take a gamble on secondhand as a result of owning it.

Currently looking for a UK source of new brushes. Get the liquid from Juno

Iโ€™ve got the Knosti version of this. Itโ€™s amazing the radical improvement on most discs, previously filled with crackle that now play near mint. Pretty much everything I buy secondhand goes through it now.

For what would've been her 80th birthday, here's #ElisabethSladen reminiscing on a DVD commentary in 2004 about how, when she left Doctor Who in the 70s, the props people let her keep a TARDIS key, so she'd feel like she could someday come back.
And did she ever.

On this day 45 years ago, 1st Feb 1981 Scotland partially decriminalised homosexuality, bringing to an end half a millennia of state sanctioned murder, imprisonment, hard labour & transportation for the crime of being gay.

Supposedly the proper, authentic stuff is a lot better than the supermarket bars, but Iโ€™ve never been tempted.

Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe also made bread and dripping sound delicious. Itโ€™s a very 1940s mix of foods that are thought achievable or desirable, I guess

Starfleet Academy Writing Assignment #4: Kling, Gone On Star Trek: SFA s01e04, "Vox in Excelso"

Wasn't this week's Starfleet Academy terrific? A big Klingon episode, but also a story about discourse and a young man struggling to find his voice.
