Genocide in Sudan and genocide in Xinjiang deserve the same level of attention as genocide in Gaza, which absolutely deserves the attention it’s getting. It’s about being honest about why the West ignores the other genocides and then increasing coverage of them, not decreasing Gaza coverage.

When I started my conversion to Judaism, a rabbi warned me that people would hate me just for being Jewish. Boy, was he right. It's interesting, that's for sure. Even when I say no one should be tortured and killed, I am still somehow wrong because I am Jewish. Oh well. I wanted to be Jewish.

It took me a whole day to recover from that effort, and now I feel like I am being reminded once again, I fail at everything I do, even when I try to help people.

Apparently, I needed to receive a lecture about how "I need to get out more". I am poor, disabled, dealing with serious illness, and not one person (other than my partner) has visited me in over a year. No one calls. No one brings casseroles. It didn't feel nice to be lectured after trying so hard.

I visited someone in the hospital on the weekend. My partner drove me, and I brought along some magazines that I picked up from a store. Magazines are expensive, y'all. I brought coffee and treats. I honestly thought that I was performing a mitzvah. It cost a lot, both financially and physically.

Today, I prepared a simple but still technically proper meal and managed to eat a few bites. I did a week's worth of dishes. I took a long, soapy shower and then I moisturized. I even brushed my teeth, swirling the blood away with mouthwash. I'm in pain but I did it all alone- I deserve a sticker.

When there are more bugs than rice in the bag, it's not going to be a tasty vegetarian meal.
