18.09.2025 05:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm so sorry for your loss Roy. I met Dawn years ago and never forgot her such was the beauty of her soul. I would rib her on X and she just got me. I canβt imagine what youβre going through but she would want you to stay strong. Youβll get through this. DMs open if you need to reach out.

How ironic.
We know how though.

Β£10m behaviour hubs programme to end β but what next?
βQuestions over programme efficacy, behaviour didnβt improve or improved slightly.β
Not a roaring success then?

Yes. Baffles me why so many teachers canβt see fun as anything other than mindless laughing.
11.01.2025 09:28 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Getting that motivation can be a skill.
At the forefront of all my lessons is the initial hook, the starting motivator to encourage attention, focus and a desire to learn.
Itβs depressing how many seem to think all they have to do is teach and expect pupils to want to learn.
Yes
04.01.2025 11:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Depends on what leads the thinking I suspect. Iβve generally found that well thought through lessons, based on solid evidence of developmental priorities, delivered in a manner that supports engagement, tend to be enjoyable for all involved. βFunβ is a consequence of quality, rather than the aim.

04.01.2025 11:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thought for the day.
βMaking lessons funβ just means making the learning experience something to interest and engage children.
These are children, they have no choice in their education. Shouldnβt we be seeking to have them enjoy it?
The insecurity on show on this concept is incredibly revealing.
A poster pointing out that good and bad children will get presents from Santa. Itβs the poor children who wonβt.
And this is why I never use Santa as an incentive to behave in class. This βthe elves are watchingβ riles me.
Iβve taught children who got no presents. And they believe it when they hear about naughty lists.
Bit concerning. The subset of voters is not a representative sample if the profession so using the results to guide policy is a bit odd.
29.08.2024 14:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes. Statistical likelihood. CAT scores in year 7 have a 0.8 correlation coefficient with GCSE outcomes for maths. Perfect data points to moderate, challenge and reflect upon a childβs progress and arrest underachievement where itβs possible to do so.
16.08.2024 18:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hope not. Iβd like to see an end to the echo chamber that is social media having some influence on government policy.
