Lucky is the man who does not secretly believe that every possibility is open to him. Ask me about the Victorians

Norm Macdonald's Story About A Life-Saving Pig | Late Night with Conan O’Brien

Going to improve this thread with a 1996 clip that is presented as it should be, and best watched in bed on a 20 inch CRT in a big oak entertainment center. Love the face he makes at "but man I tell you there's lots of funny stories from there" www.youtube.com/watch?v=vATV...

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all, the beats and pans and scans they use for these are so rote that given enough rendering time you could probably automate it on the computer I used in high school. Definitely no obvious human touch on these things

Hey Norm, these jokes are great, thanks for submitting them to the Insane Funny Vids OOC TikTok account, but I had a noteβ€”I wonder if they'd be even FUNNIER if you told them faster, just kind of straight through without the digressions. It just takes a long time to learn about why the moth's so sad

Sometimes YouTube will get me with a Norm Macdonald late show joke I recognize that's been hacked into a Short and I'll click it. And man, they're worse after they've had the vertical video edits bolted on. Oh he's stopped abruptly in mid-sentence, thank you for zooming in on his face to ruin that

No don't show an interest in my favorite thing! I would hate it even more if you started asking me to go to the park and play catch or play home run derby. Anything but asking me to coach your little league team!

Yesterday the kids were playing loudly but happily by themselves for multiple hours, then they got quiet, then they ran over to me and announced, in the manner of someone explaining an evil plan to James Bond, that they had stolen my hats. Yes, I hate when you guys wear Cardinals gear, please stop!!

Unbelievably cool Geo Metro convertible on Marketplace if anybody with fewer stupid car plans than me wants to hop on

I could solve this at any point by just reading a book about him but my behavior suggests that I would rather post about it and wait for a Rest Is History series

Whenever I read about the Victorians Ruskin is always the big reminder that I'm American. UK historians and novelists will just toss him in like "And then of course Ruskin," like I had a full week on him in junior high history. I know his story but only in the context of all other Victorian stories

Before the Walgreens by my office closed I used to hear Sousa all the time because they played it through loudspeakers 24/7 to try to repel homeless people. Going to have to investigate whether this meets the admin criteria

Imagined a CNG-powered plug-in hybrid and felt a real sense of loss knowing it will never exist. Attaching something that looks like dental headgear to your car every night and filling it with two separate things that could blow up your house... it couldn't get better than that

The Savuka interest does my heart good. Melvin, it's too late for me, but you're young enough to cultivate this look and learn to do that dance where you put one leg all the way over your head somehow

Melvin and I had a very congenial daycare commute today, he's totally caught my fondness for upmarket baby-boomer guitar pop. Asked me to replay "Off The Ground" by Paul McCartney on the way in and "Great Heart" by Johnny Clegg & Savuka on the way home.

Weirdlyβ€”or maybe not weirdly, since it would be less interesting to me if I'd tried itβ€”I've never done one of those. I'm just thinking about blasting through my neighborhood and down the street to work every morning on one, the wind very gently in my hair.

My targets, now that I've read that .edu page and become an expert: The "p133" (sole attempt at a consumer-first model, apparently failed because dealers used it to upsell) and the "i167" (the original and Segway-lookingest, which is critically important)

16.02.2026 22:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Saw a very stale marketplace listing for a Segway i180 (later first-gen model, unfortunate color scheme but also better batteries) in Tucson for cheap and nearly pulled the trigger but the guy had sold it already. This is no longer a drill

16.02.2026 22:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

See it's insane to me that there is no Content Drive generated by this stuff! Why do people who are in on minidiscs, CRT TVs, tragically flawed games, etc, not own Segway i167s??
