I've been enjoying the surge in Goldenboy posting today. Just the best. Ruthless pirate legend vs guy who steals purses at public hangings. Ben is gliding across the deck like an evil Father Christmas, and there's Izzy, doing a little lurk. All 4 of his braincells are occupied with weird devotion.

Ben picking Izzy up by the scruff and presenting him to the other pirate captains like, "Isn't it fun? I found it in a bin."

and then for hours used passive voice to pretend they had no idea who was behind the apparently spontaneous explosions

Imho one of Stede's BEST traits is he is brave enough to try and build good relationships even with ppl with people who he knows do not like him. so it makes me a little sad when ppl refuse to observe or think on how Stede is not liked by most of the characters he encounters. guy has balls for days

Ed stays over at friend's, and after a few days they're like "shouldnt you be getting home?" Ed's face falls "Its not my home... anymore". Everyone gossips if its a big spat with Izzy, but actually Ed saw a bug in the entryway last time he was there

I'm mad all over again now about Stede stealing the plant from the poor fishermen and I KNOW it's supposed to be sweet and not have gross implications but it thrives in his care because he isn't IMPOVERISHED, not because he's an inherently better person than the fishermen!

i like izzy because i like ed, it’s always been that way for me, so it is wild to me. they’re so similar even tho they’re so different. they have decades together, of course they are. they’re both pirates, both inexperienced in love, both quick to anger, both traumatized and violent, etc.
