At last, we’ve invented the guard who always lies from the hit riddle “one guard always tells the truth and one guard always lies”

it's great that my students now can see advertisements for relevant products and services in the course of my class. the thought of students not being aware of great deals and exclusive offers breaks my heart as an educator

Apparently London has both a “Mayor of London” (does normal mayor stuff) and a “Lord Mayor of London” (does civic events in costumes) and like, not to hand it to England, but I think I’ve figured out what we can do with Eric Adams

And a mouse unlikely named.
Nothin' here but history
Can you see what has been done?
Half a brick rush over me
Now I step into the sun - POW!

OTOH, I think there is a particular type of “Broadway Singing” which seems to be the same everywhere, and it would make sense if you just didn’t like that style of singing. (I don’t either.)

It might depend a little bit on which musicals? Since they’re not all musically the same. A lot of them basically just have pop slop scores, and those just suck; you can dislike those and still appreciate, say, West Side Story or Sweeney Todd

(The second act of Here We Are is about a group of people who slowly go insane trapped in a room they can’t leave, and the same thing is happening to the characters on stage)

Fwiw I think I heard pretty negative things about Death Becomes Her from people I know (as opposed to critical buzz)

“Here We Are” was borderline unwatchable on stage, but I listened to just the cast album a couple nights ago and thought it was pretty good! (More controversially, I’d say the same about Sunday in the Park, but I’ve only seen a filmed version of that one and turned it off at intermission)

I think the problem might often be that the script and the musical are written by different people, and so they often just aren’t cohesive. So, eg, some Sondheim shows imo work better as albums than as shows (and conversely some musicals might be better without songs)
