I'm bitterly disappointed that the Democrats don't present much resistance to fascism. Schumer doesn't lead. He merely takes up space. Pitch the whole lot into the bin but only keep the few who are truly progressive. They're looking out for the little guys. They haven't forgotten about us.

We cannot afford a divided and weak opposition party when an authoritarian is invading our cities, terrorizing our communities, and corruptly self-enriching at the expense of the rest of us.

We want to celebrate a Democratic Party that fights back. But after this latest surrender, the next step is primaries and new leadership. We get the party we demand, and we intend to demand one that fights.

What the fuq were you thinking? At least my two senators didn't sell me out for the sake of their bank account. Chuck Shumer needed to step down long ago. Caving in to the Republicans is not representing your constituents.

Mississippi Democrats Break Republican Senate Supermajority, Flipping 3 Legislative Seats After 13 years, Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the Mississippi Senate, flipping 3 legislative seats.

NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.

As the cold reality of Cuomo’s defeat sets in, this is a moment for centrists to ask themselves: Have we lost touch with the common voter? Get out and spend time in the tattoo parlors and dispensaries. The drag shows, community gardens and outsider art galleries where Real New Yorkers congregate

Congratulations to Governor-elect @mikiesherrill.bsky.social and the New Jersey Indivisibles who worked so hard to secure this big win! This is a huge night for Democrats and a humiliation for Trump. The message from voters is clear: There is a political cost to siding with the regime.

Congratulations to Mayor-elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on convincing millions to believe in politics and the future of the Democratic Party! His seemingly-longshot win represents a stunning rejection of the outdated, loser version of the Democratic Party that brought Trump to power twice.

Everyone should pay careful attention to the Maine voter ID ballot measure (Prop 1). It is on track to lose -- thereby proving that the GOP claims that voter ID laws are overwhelmingly popular is a lie. Perhaps now the legacy media will stop repeating that nonsense.

Autumn scene with the dried brown stems of spotted horsemint in the foreground. The verticels (leftover sepals) look like brown pompoms along the stems. Each of those little tubes leftover from each flower contains four tiny nutlets that are the seeds for the next generation.

The base of the same spotted horsemint plant, showing new growth (narrow, sword shaped leaves) that will stay mostly green through the winter. It might turn a bit red, but the icy wind doesn't seem to damage it much now that we no longer have snow on the ground all winter, thanks to global warming.

Spotted horsemint, Monarda punctata. One of my favorite plants because it's a pollinator magnet for all sizes of bees and wasps. It does well in our poor, sandy soil.

When the president is receiving literal *tribute* from foreign nations ... he might not be representing the will of the American people. Airplanes, golden crowns, it's all a grift and he doesn't care if his policies are downright *abusive* to the people paying taxes that are being misappropriated.

Today we're gathering seeds from whorled milkweed (pictured), anise hyssop, and horsemint in order to replant in other parts of the prairie. #NativePlants #SupportPollinators

OPERATION INFLATION

Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called β€œoperation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).

A lot of people think it’s unreasonable to expect masking in public spaces

What’s unreasonable is accepting a mass disabling event when we have tools to stop it

What’s unreasonable is expecting disabled people to stay home forever

What’s unreasonable is risking your long term health unnecessarily
