Superman is about an all American boy and his dog beating the shit out of a narcissistic billionaire domestic abuser who thinks he can play God with the world. He just happens to be the old fashioned kind of American hero that stands up for the downtrodden and weak.

I can’t help but observe as the news fills up with celebrations of mass federal layoffs, AI replacing workers, and bosses demanding the repeal of work-life balance, that we are now measuring the system’s success by something entirely else.

Something inhuman.

When the value of things exceeds the value of their makers, capitalism will have achieved its Ragnarok.

Hamas attacked Israel to drag Mid East allies into conflict with Israel, realizing it would provoke a retaliation.

Israel just copied their playbook by attacking Iran on decades old propaganda, similarly realizing they can drag the US into conflict as they exhaust their Iron Dome defenses.

I recently got laid off and the biggest realization has been how brittle, how restrictive, the cocoon of my false ego has become. Even when I get a new gig, I hope I don’t lose this burst of insight to the sedative comfort of a corporate job. I want a deeper connection with myself.

These marches are inspiring! I love seeing everybody but us stand up for anybody but them.
