No Superman or Goonies? Would’ve expected both of those before Maverick

And I’m sure there are a ton more factors at play on top of that, such as how invested the US/European music industries probably are in those major artists (e.g. Burna Boy is signed to Atlantic)

Nigeria is the wealthiest (or second behind South Africa? One of them is the top but I’ve forgotten which) country in Africa and has the most robust entertainment industry, plus an extensive history of critically acclaimed music from the likes of Fela Kuti which I imagine also gives them a boost

I think the Yinzers would revolt if anyone from Baltimore got a hold of their show

Is Red Eye being counted among these three? β€˜Cause Cillian Murphy didn’t technically die on the plane (not that I’m saying it shouldn’t count because it’s still clearly plane-related, just clarifying if it was counted or if there’s a fourth Rachel McAdams plane scene/film that I don’t know about)

I don’t think I knew she was on Aviary. Been a long time since I heard it, guess I gotta go back for her now

Loved her album with Vinny Golia from last year, and she has some nice videos on TikTok, but I completely missed that this album was coming until just now. Definitely gonna add it to my list, thanks for sharing

I will defend the sopranos finale too, I think it ended with an existential note where you have a blackout panic attack like tony does, knowing he will never be safe and that he has to always be on his guard until he dies

Had a light year movie-wise but still a solid list

Random thoughts about 2025 for music:

1. INCREDIBLE year for dance music.
2. Miley Cyrus had the best album out of all the main pop girlies

The Worst List? The worst hit songs of 2025! In a way. I guess.

I made a Worst Hit Songs of 2025 list

I recommend reading through it rather than just checking the songs. Could spark some interesting conversations. :) buttondown.com/AlsThoughtsA...

Look, I love Die Hard, but there’s only one movie that ever blew me through the back of the theatre:

Hell with it, I'm just going to post the whole thing here via screencap and alt text. It's Kaleb Horton, man, his writing always deserves the second read, especially since it could have just easily been lost forever like so much else. Read it, share it.

Klute is leaving the Criterion Channel at the end of the month, and you should watch it, and then maybe read this. if you feel like it, no pressure.

Returning to this after the news about Sam Rivers (RIP), and the answer was clear, whether or not you hated Fred Durst, Limp Bizkit had a fuckin rhythm section that couldn't be denied. Listening to "Re-Arranged" again and that bass line kills.
