Sharing this - the symptoms of stroke. Someone important to me didn't recognise loss of speech as a sign, to their cost, upsettingly so.
Know the signs: F. A. S. T.
Dropped side of the FACE
Inability to raise both ARMS
SPEECH slurred or impossible
Act FAST, call an ambulance

Robert Duvall in a black suit, white shirt, and black tie. He is smiling against a gray background. It's 2014.

Robert Duvall was a kind and gentle man. He had that crinkle in his smile that made you think he had some precious secret, all his own.
Rest well, Robert.

The #patchbirding Great-tailed grackle very vocal again tonight 😍
It was feeding on the ground for a while first then flew into copse at 16.20 and was still there when I had to tear myself away at 17.05

A gift for @itsthebeanie.bsky.social, one of my incredible discord moderators! They requested something with critters and something spaced themed, so it naturally followed that I had to draw space raccoons ✨

I have been keen to see this bird, eventually found it on the Eider Pond at WWT Slimbridge at the end of the day. The presumed Tufted x Red-crested Pochard hybrid, worth the wait. #birds #GlosBirds #BirdsSeenIn2026

Nice to get a few hours of sunshine yesterday at Roundhay Park with the juvenile Iceland Gull. Had to wait several hours for the Gull to perform having gone AWOL several times.

It was good to see the Hume's Warbler at Lowestoft on 14/2/26. It gave brief views in the morning, and then wasn’t seen for a few hours: I relocated it early afternoon, in the north-east corner of Sparrow's Nest Gardens, where it showed very well.

I am happy to admit it really has been genuinely life saving for me at times. And I met my amazing T'other Half through it, so although folk criticise twitching/birding sometimes it can be life changing and essential for people. May sound a bit sad but here we are.

I think this is part of my generation's confusion about AI.

We were raised on a culture that warned about these dangers repeatedly -- from WarGames to the Terminator films to the Matrix, and countless other dystopian futures in between -- and now those cautionary tales are being celebrated.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Hi everyone I’m really struggling to find people of color who have ME/CFS to take the survey. I’m at a bit of a disadvantage because I can’t flyer in person. I’ve reached out to over 20 practitioners, only 2 have responded. Please lmk if you have any advice! This is an international survey

Same. Always loved birding (my earliest memory is a Grey Wagtail from my pushchair) but then after some things happened I really started listing. It's really the only thing that's kept me going if I am honest.
