UNM (New Mexico) faculty senate also passed the RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH MUTUAL ACADEMIC DEFENSE COMPACTS IN DEFENSE OF ACADEMIC FREEDOM, FREE EXPRESSION, INSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY, AND THE RESEARCH ENTERPRISE. The resolution is national and state level.

Added it to my list this morning when I saw it. Looking forward to reading it! Congrats!

I really hope we can move beyond letter writing to actions that really put pressure into our unis. A lot of us don’t want to go into admin positions because of what that entails, but we gotta be thinking on putting pressure through faculty senates, admin positions, striking, etc.

I’m back here for good now cuz the ex bird is done to me. Let me introduce myself. I’m Andrea and I recently got my PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto. I’m joining the Soc & Crim dpt at Uni of New Mexico-ABQ this January 2025. I do work on the dynamics & politics of violence in LATAM.

In the current context, I’m hopeful to share that I got an #ASA Community Action Research Initiative Grant. The grant funds our photography community-based research in #Peru on children & youth understandings of place-making & autonomy amidst the constraints of violence.
