And then there’s the time period over which to measure the net positive (or negative) contribution to the economy. 1 month? 6 months? 1 year? 4 years? 10 years?

Someone could have a long term health issue, be studying and come through all that to then be able to get into the workforce.

And of course students while they are studying are not net positive for the economy.

Every dollar that goes to someone on the breadline gets cycled back through the economy.

What about people who, through no fault of their own, have long term health issues? They bring a cost to society. Your approach would mean they cannot vote.

I’ve seen a post here where someone said NZ Post was an experiencing delays due to the large number of UK passport applications they were processing (ie. the NZ to UK mail system was struggling… )

It’s true. There are people in NZ who are scrambling to apply for British passports they’ve never needed prior to this change.

If we continue down the path suggested then the more taxes someone pays the more their vote would count and we would have to monitor this regularly.

Yep! I’ve messaged him and he gave me some excellent advice a while ago. (I might message him and ask about our current preferred canal route too - in the Loire Valley)

🤣 I’m going to have to adjust to a slower pace of boating. The canal boat will cruise around 5 knots which is SLOW in comparison to my boat (23 knots) and the coastguard boat (35 knots).

S and I are planning a trip from NZ to Europe to visit my brother and family in Spain in September. We're also tacking on a week on a French canal boat and a few days in Paris and Rome. It's going to cost several arms and legs.

True - we don't have the economies of scale. (IMO our voter registration and voting approach would scale and the access to democracy would remain).
