Hereโs the link to MPI and a map showing the intertidal areas closed to gathering from 12 March.
Note that taking kina is still allowed.

Of course Jones turned it into a migrant bashing opportunity not too long ago.
15.02.2026 00:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This needs to be expanded but itโs also a good start. (I live on Whangaparaoa peninsula and the locals have been wanting this for some time)

Heโs approved a 2 yr rฤhui on:

๐คฃ but thatโs where you started. Telling us your opinion on who should be able to vote (on a thread that starts with citing many countries voting systems).
14.02.2026 01:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0And then thereโs the time period over which to measure the net positive (or negative) contribution to the economy. 1 month? 6 months? 1 year? 4 years? 10 years?
Someone could have a long term health issue, be studying and come through all that to then be able to get into the workforce.
And of course students while they are studying are not net positive for the economy.
14.02.2026 01:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Every dollar that goes to someone on the breadline gets cycled back through the economy.
14.02.2026 01:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What about people who, through no fault of their own, have long term health issues? They bring a cost to society. Your approach would mean they cannot vote.
14.02.2026 01:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโve seen a post here where someone said NZ Post was an experiencing delays due to the large number of UK passport applications they were processing (ie. the NZ to UK mail system was strugglingโฆ )

13.02.2026 23:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Also looks like itโs in the wrong place โฆ
13.02.2026 23:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs true. There are people in NZ who are scrambling to apply for British passports theyโve never needed prior to this change.
13.02.2026 23:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If we continue down the path suggested then the more taxes someone pays the more their vote would count and we would have to monitor this regularly.

13.02.2026 01:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0๐คฃ Iโm going to have to adjust to a slower pace of boating. The canal boat will cruise around 5 knots which is SLOW in comparison to my boat (23 knots) and the coastguard boat (35 knots).
Iโve been watching videos on YouTube and am looking forward to it.
๐ I've been avoiding flying for work and it's circa 20 years since I was last in Europe (for my brothers wedding).
We're actively avoiding transiting through America!
S and I are planning a trip from NZ to Europe to visit my brother and family in Spain in September. We're also tacking on a week on a French canal boat and a few days in Paris and Rome. It's going to cost several arms and legs.
13.02.2026 01:38 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 6 ๐ 0True - we don't have the economies of scale. (IMO our voter registration and voting approach would scale and the access to democracy would remain).
