My jaw dropped at this quote

Sounds similar to my experience. I have a Garmin watch which tracks heart rate, sleep data and so on - it reckons my REM sleep cratered during the illness, and is just slowly inching back to normality now. This was all despite getting the flu vaccine (probably kept me out of hospital though!)

Made it to the last day of the Art of Manga exhibition at the de Young museum on Sunday, cosplaying as a culture vulture. It was educational - I'd never realised manga's breadth and diversity. A curatorial panel described it as a medium rather than a genre, and by the end I saw what they mean

I had it in the first half of January, it wasn't fun at all. Although I did manage to emerge with my caffeine habit intact

Then YT Music followed it up with a horrific schranzy techno atrocity at 200% volume. Nearly had a heart attack. Back to DJ school for Sundar Pichai

Everybody thinks 'https://' stands for 'hypertext transfer protocol secure' but it actually stands for 'head to this place, sucka' followed by a colon and two laser sounds

After watching episode 7 of Pluribus last night I had to go straight to Bandcamp and start mainlining "Esperanza" by Hermanos GutiΓ©rrez

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar

The Daily Mail has been relentlessly attacking the BBC over the editing of Trump quotes in a documentary and look:

It completely fabricated a quote from a BBC presenter. Robinson should sue them for, ooh, at least $2 billion dollars as it’s worse than what they accused the BBC of.

In a just world, RZA would be a billionaire and Dr Dre would have a voice acting credit on Minions: The Rise of Gru

Just got woken up at 3am by a legitimately scary earthquake and realised that I have terrible earthquake instincts - went running to my kid's bedroom when I should be rolling under the nearest bit of furniture

I recently walked past a car that had a Terrance McKenna bumper sticker, which also made me think of this album. Thanks for posting the link, now I can have a re-listen too!

If you did, it would give some of us the chance to stroke our chins saying "of course, I was into PC Hipsta before it went mainstream"

Cartoon of hipster police officer saying "can you stop filming me like that" to a person holding a smartphone. The person thinks his rights are being violated but the hipster policeman's objection is actually that the video is being filmed in portrait mode

Found this old PC Hipsta cartoon in the archives and was glad to see that @pchipsta.bsky.social made it over here

Annoying to get an email saying that Mozilla is shutting down Pocket. I'm sure it's extremely niche by now but it's been my main app for long reads for years & years. Mozilla has been making it worse since they acquired it though so I guess it's not a huge surprise. Time to look for alternatives

Mine was that the BBC once had ad breaks in their TV shows and had only stopped them when I was ~5. I got very indignant with my parents about this

Transmission III, by No Moon from the album Spins, Parities & Multipolarities

Always partial to a bit of ambient acid - it turns out that the 303 is fine with leaving its drum machine friends behind and heading out on its own from time to time.
