An orange and white spotted Ailanthus Webworm Moth on a green marjoram leaf.

In my garden today and spotted this amazing dude. Have never seen one before. He was on the marjoram, but apparently it feasts on the invasive Tree of Heaven. A web search revealed it to be an Ailanthus Webworm Moth.

Try roasting them: trim top and bottom, rub with oil, season with salt and pepper, wrap in heavy duty foil (or twice with the thin stuff) and put in 425F oven for 60mins. Skin comes off easily once cooled a bit. Way way better than boiled. And yes, the seeds don't like the hot when germinating.
