Came here for some positivity. You'll probably find me chatting about films, films, and more films. Some TV talk too. And the odd dad joke.

24.09.2025 15:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What was the last update of a classic property that truly nailed the casting of iconic characters? 2009's Star Trek is pretty remarkable in that regard. You don't feel like it's new people taking on the roles. You just feel like they *are* those characters.
21.09.2025 14:44 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The word legend gets thrown around a lot but Robert Redford truly was. R.I.P. to one of the all-time greats.
16.09.2025 13:11 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ah remember when movies had lines that like that? Those were the days!*
*he says, being born two years after that movie came out
Giving the original Running Man another look before Edgar Wright's take hits cinemas. This has to be on the list of absolute MOST '80s movies, right?
14.09.2025 14:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Yeah it's an ingenious pairing. I hear his take is like one guy (Austin Abrams AKA James in Weapons) wakes up to find the zombie apocalypse and the RE stuff we know is what he sort of bumps into.
14.09.2025 12:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Saw Weapons for a third time yesterday. Only solidified it as one of my favourites of the year, second only to Sinners. There's just something about the film's atmosphere that is deeply, impressively unsettling. Magnificent piece of work.
14.09.2025 11:57 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Thank you! โบ๏ธ

12.09.2025 19:19 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Well I have to say Spinal Tap II put a big goofy smile on my face. Just getting to be in the company of these daft characters and songs once again made me happy. And while it doesn't even get close to the original, it's a lot funnier than you might expect from a 40-plus year legacy sequel.
12.09.2025 13:02 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Aw shucks, well thank you! I hope I can bring a bit of that here โบ๏ธ
Done! (sorry, thought I already had)
Thank you sir. I just got so tired of the other one, it's full of bots, right-wing blue tick assholes, and so much negativity. But I really missed just chatting about movies.
11.09.2025 21:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm hoping it's just them avoiding using the best lines in the trailer. Fingers crossed! Seeing it tomorrow. Obviously not expecting it to match the original but hoping it's not another Zoolander 2 ๐ฌ
11.09.2025 18:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Pound for pound, joke for joke, I think This Is Spinal Tap might be the funniest film ever made. So hoping the sequel lives up to even a sliver of that.
11.09.2025 18:32 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Nah it was just "I understood that reference" ๐

10.09.2025 10:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Anyone watched the first ep of HBO's Task? Always up for a new gritty TV drama and it's from the writer of Mare of Easttown which I thought was terrific.
10.09.2025 10:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That's a very hard pick to argue with
09.09.2025 22:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Is Denzel the coolest movie star who ever lived? He's gotta be up there.
09.09.2025 17:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0DTRT is probably his best film (that or Malcolm X). But Inside Man is my personal fave. I love bank robbery movies and there's just something so cool about its vibe. I revisit it often.
09.09.2025 11:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Inside Man is my favourite Spike Lee joint so I'm excited to see him reunite with Denzel for the first time since with Highest 2 Lowest. I've heard good things. I wonder why it took so long for them to collaborate again?
09.09.2025 10:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0If nothing else it was very cool to see a samurai story in Scotland!
Oh yeah that scene in Weapons was absolutely bonkers!
That's great, man. I love how unashamedly positive it is. We need that right now in the world. Sorry you've had such a tough time bud.
08.09.2025 12:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Still to see Highest 2 Lowest, planning on it soon. Ballad is a lovely wee film. I wished I liked Tornado a lot more but this scene was a standout for sure.
08.09.2025 12:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Which movie scenes have stuck with you the most so far this year? A few that spring to mind for me:
08.09.2025 11:54 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0You love to see it!
