The NYT should get the fear in my US friends & relatives' eyes when someone accidentally says "England" when they mean the UK or Scotland around me. The NYT also declared the Burns poem 'Green Grow the Rashes' an 'Irish folk song' in a Succession article. Was ready to march on them in woad paint.

I grew up listening to Kermode so I’ll always be a fan to an extent, but I don’t get his opinions on comedies. It was only after I finally watched Burn After Reading I realised how off the mark he was. Not saying he’s *wrong* - you like what you like - but just straight up not trying to get it.

To be fair (& my gaming references are pretty old now, to counter myself), I can just *watch* TV series or films. I’ve never end up stuck on the third last episode of a series because I can’t figure out something, beat a boss, or it’s much harder because I didn’t obtain some item or other earlier.

I’ve said for a long time the fact that there wasn’t even a single drunken stag-do stumbling around catcalling Elizabeth Olsen or trying to square-go Vision did not help with my disbelief suspension.

I can never quite shake the feeling it’s Obama humiliating Trump at the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Not sure I’d want this switch, but it’s undeniably interesting.

And they've got Michael Mando as Scorpion right there, gathering dust for years after giving an all-timer performance in Better Call Saul. I know he's meant to be in the film, but in a film already featuring Ruffalo and Bernthal, I don't think he'll get much airtime.

Not a wholesome answer, but sadly it was somebody jacking off to the Moneypenny and Bond shaving scene in Skyfall. No, I am not joking. Horrible and awkward. Especially for a pal of mine who worked at the cinema and had to be the one to politely ask him to leave.

Think of the ingrained mindset that decides those are the first things you wanted to know about someone in their late 30s you’ve never met. British classist attitudes and methods remain nearly peerless.

Talk recently of hating the “what do you do for a living?” question has reminded of the time someone said in conversation to a colleague that I grew up in the same area & their first questions about me - a man in my late 30s - were about what school I went to and what my *father* did for a living.

I keep hearing murmurs (in the ether, not on here or Xitter) about BlueSky use declining. Is this actually true, and what is the trend on Xitter & Threads over that same period? It’s very hard to parse actual data (or inferences drawn from them) from bizarre agendas/personal delusions in this area.

They've tackled the Alien and Jurassic Park franchises, now they are tackling the Mission Impossible franchise. Hitting a real sweet spot between film criticism and just being humans who love fun movies. I'm really enjoying this run. Highly recommend you give this a listen.
