01.11.2025 00:54 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is it that Iβm supposed to be bitchy and hysterical on even-numbered days but overly concerned about other peoplesβ feelings on odd-numbered days? Because Iβm told Iβm both and I really canβt keep this straight.

31.10.2025 17:42 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Yup, I think itβs tough to communicate both that thereβs a hierarchy in the classroom and also weβre human beings with a number of shared objectives.
I think when professors publicly shame some students, there are even more students who get scared and defensive, which makes things worse.
Letβs stick with the rule that if you canβt say something nice about your students on social media, donβt say anything at all.
Example: My students are great! And theyβre no more flawed as human beings than I am, so letβs focus on my shortcomings instead.
So itβs bad if students publicly shame professors, but itβs good if professors publicly shame their students for publicly shaming them?
If you donβt respect studentsβ privacy, maybe youβre bringing this on yourself.
Good news poli sci profs, we have a new example to teach of cueing racial bias.

@robmaxim.bsky.social and co-authors outline why reform is neededβand what Congress can do to ensure stability.
Per tht 2018 legal opinion, the precedent of undeclared wars set w Indigenous nations has been used to justify military actions agnst Korea, Vietnam, Libya, Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti, Kosovo, Sudan, Afghanistan, Yemen, & Iraq. Congress has only declared war 11 times.
31.10.2025 15:48 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0In 1 battle w the Miami Confederacy, 88% of US soldiers died, effectively wiping the American army out. War 1 Indigenous nations is why we have a standing military & why it is so big.
That war w the Miami Confederacy was cited by the Trump admin in 2018 to justify bombing Syria.
As Trump bombs more boats from Venezuela & moves warships to the Caribbean, even Republican lawmakers are arguing he canβt order such military actions w/o Congressional approval. But did you know U.S. presidents going back 2 George Washington, have fought undeclared wars?

No.
The state of Oklahoma is attacking tribal hunting & fishing rights, saying that tribal citizens who hunt & fish without a permit from the state will be charged with a crime.

For Miller and friends, the cruelty itself is gratifying.
TBC, the issue isnβt NIMBYism by Native and other marginalized communities.
The issue is NIMBYism by comfortable communities who have the power to shove mining into someone elseβs yard.
Upshot: lithium mining can generate environmental damage, at great cost to nearby Native and other marginalized communitiesβsome of which are already suffering from the harms from the mining other minerals.
Needless to say, Christian is great, and all faults in this project are due to me.
Practice job talks are critical but often impossible for students who are remote from their programs. I'm offering up to FOUR free pol sci practice job talks in Oct (mutually agreeable dates/times) for remote students. It can either be student and me alone, or we can invite others. #polisky #psjobs

1/13 Forced Sterilization Is Not History in Canada
In 1928 Alberta passed the Sexual Sterilization Act, giving a government board power to sterilize people it deemed unfit to reproduce. Indigenous women and girls were heavily targeted.
What do they think happened to the bodies of all the kids who died at boarding schools?
