Greater Christchurch on track for ‘Events Express’
EXCLUSIVE: Thousands of people may be able to travel to major Christchurch events by train next year, The Press can reveal.
Private train operator Mainland Rail is in the midst of creating an “event express train” service in time for the opening of One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha in April 2026.

Christchurch council commits to pay equity despite law change
Some 290 library workers across Christchurch will get a pay rise despite the abrupt cancellation of their pay equity claim.
CCC has committed to paying library workers more fairly, despite their pay equity claim being scrapped last month. Unclear yet if other city councils which PSA lodged claims against will follow suit.
