Does your device change your regional slang into something completely different?

Tried to type #bampot & had it auto-corrected to "vampire".

Perhaps it's a #Scottish #RegionalSlang #WordOfTheDay somewhere πŸ˜‚

Sometimes I worry clients think I've forgotten about them when I'm working on multiple projects, simultaneously - in order to meet all the different deadlines.

Does this feeling ever leave? Question for the #Freelancers

I want you to know
It does not go unnoticed
The standards we uphold

Seventh of May
National #Interpreter
Appreciation Day

Thank you to those
Who took all they knew
Put them into lessons
And dilemma run-throughs

Thank you to those
With the battles silently fought
So that those after
Won’t be without support

My very first sign name was BOOK which seems to have frozen in time - I have very fond memories of the Deaf person who'd gifted me that sign name & I know it remains her sign name for me. I didn't know then that it would keep our story connected.

My sign name is written in Raymond's notation form (ASL L on dominant hand raised repeatedly into the air) underneath the illustration of their sign name.

The sign name was received during university for my frequency in raising my hand to ask questions.

Deaf poet, Raymond Antrobus explains their sign name in BSL - an illustration is provided on the middle of the page. Text reads "My Sign Name is the BSL letter R (place trigger finger on dominant hand in shape of a hook, then place finger on palm of non-dominant hand, then lift dominant hand up over head, then open all fingers out in the BSL word for light, shower, sunrays)." This is followed by "The body houses countless feelings that can't address their own names." Towards the bottom of the page is the poet's autograph & my sign name in Raymond's notation form.

Re-reading 'Signs, Music' by #RaymondAntrobus on the last day of #NationalPoetryMonth I didn't understand the appeal of signed (poet's signature) books, until I did.

An experienced professional once said to me to stop asking for feedback/advice as they felt that it made me look incompetent when I'm highly skilled.

So I stopped.

Their suggestion came from a good place AND it didn't feel right (for me). #LifelongLearner

There's no such thing as a self-made man or woman. No one succeeds without support.

"I did it on my own" is a sign of insecurity and entitlement. Acknowledging help is a mark of confidence and humility.

Giving credit to others doesn't undermine you. It elevates them.

BDA Statement on the Proposed Cuts to Disability Benefits and Access to Work The British Deaf Association is deeply alarmed and outraged by the potential cuts to Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, and Access to Work

The BDA is deeply alarmed by proposed cuts to DLA, PIP & Access to Work. These are not luxuriesβ€”they're lifelines. Without them, Deaf & disabled people face poverty & isolation. We refuse to be silent.
