They needed an everyday lefthanded bat most of all. And Sanchez is at least that. Maybe they couldn't strike a deal for a pitcher? If 2 of CJ, Walter, Garcia, Spencer, or France can round into form by early Sept, pitching should be okay. Anything more than that and they should be in excellent shape.

Oh, it's got nothing to do with the actual amount of money. I couldn't care less what a player is paid. I just mean, if you could get the same level of play from a player for 1/6 the cost, that's a much better value. And when you look towards the offseason...the money becomes a bigger issue.
