Been using matrix for only a little while and it's the first time i hear of a subscription so i went to check it out, i guess it's a bit like nitro except , it just allows you to upload stuff beyond 10MB ? and that's only if you're using the matrix homeserver. there are others.

You have "spaces" (that are also free to create) that allow you to have multiple rooms together. rooms are like discord channels i guess and spaces sorta like servers ? though obviously they don't have all the discord functionality, rooms have threads, reacts, etc
