Really great callers this morning James, essential listening.

And the majority of services people need in their day to day lives ( eg plumbers, carpenters, broadband, hospitality, care services, hair & beauty etc) are provided by people who went to FE college or completed apprenticeships and didn’t go to university.

When in fact for most it’s a now a route to a lifetime of debt. Yet vocational courses at FE colleges and work based learning (aka apprenticeships) represent a much better career pathway for many young people leading to sustainable jobs in local economy.

While Govt clearly has a role here, there’s a much bigger societal mindset that needs to change. It’s programmed into UK culture that going to 6th Form & Uni is the way to succeed.
