Climate change brings more rapidly intensifying hurricanes; NOAA cuts makes forecasting them harder Β» Yale Climate Connections
Hurricanes that intensify rapidly just before landfall are more deadly and destructive.
"If we keep cutting NOAA, there is an increasing risk of an Otis-like scenario, with a Cat 5 hurricane roaring ashore in a heavily populated area with inadequate warning. With global warming steadily increasing the odds of rapid intensification, weβd better stay ahead of this dangerous curve."

"Iron Man," "War Pigs," "Paranoid" and more created heavy metal. A slow, heavy, dark style that formed in working-class England, in the bombed out ruins of World War II. It was moving to see Ozzy say his grand farewell just a couple weeks ago in Birmingham at the Back to the Beginning concert.

Late to the party but I finished all of Andor. I'm in awe of the story and script, which render a far more realistic, plausible, and terrifying Star Wars. A pitiless, psychopathic Empire against a faction-ridden, outgunned Rebellion. No Jedi saviors. Tony Gilroy is a genius!

Rolling Stone reports today that Haiti's Hotel Oloffson has burned down. My grandfather John Dos Passos stayed there in 1948 with Dawn Powell and the Given family, at a low point in his life when he was seeking peace. He painted it beautifully, too (see image).

One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears.

Today's decision previews a dystopian reality where a lawless President can dispense with the Constitution to deprive American children of their rights.
And whether these kids have the right to defend themselves now depends on the state in which they live.
That is un-American and wrong.
