This discourse was fully there in 1930s Germany and britain as well as the U.S, where the great cities were seen as "polluted" (racially, sexually, etc.) versues purportedly pure rural populations etc. Current discourses are very much part of that tradition.

Its clarifying. He held a lot of the same political views back in the 80s and 90s. Also lots of scandals, e.g. reports said had a book of hitlers speeches by his bed and read it regularly.
