You are correct. Typically the spherical symmetry of the head (and that fact radial sources are silent) means we can approximate the head without considering the skull. It’s a nice to have in MEG where it might be essential for MSG due to the morphology.

An important commentary on the state of M/EEG software and the perverse fact we all rely on something which there is little reward in writing and maintaining.
