averse to fear-mongering in all its forms. if you must punch, please, consider punching up. music is (still) a wonder drug. (most) books are magic. however, magic is not real.

For years I couldnโ€™t stop writing about the oncoming fascism and then the fascism was here and I couldnโ€™t seem to write about it anymore.

Key facts about SAVE Act 2.0 you won't hear from GOP sponsors:

-"Show your papers" requirement far more restrictive than voter ID
-Voters would have to show documents in-person at election office, traveling up to 4.5 hours to do so
-States would be forced to hand over voter rolls to Kristi Noem

while it seems like your sensibility may be some combination of innate and hard-won, it's your daring compassion that stands out more.

it is a daring compassion.

to clarify (with more words):

"wristband" refers/ed to an excellent Paul Simon song.

and Neil Young just donated his catalog to Greenlanders with a statement.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.

This๐Ÿงต is not an argument inferring: "Social Media=Bad"

We all know these sites are a tool for getting out emergency info & news developments responsibly.

IMO - Longform journalism is usually a wiser source for/when grappling with prolonged, systemic issues.

It's pre-grappled! (And fact checked.)

American Tragedy

given your circumstances you become mouthless there-
fore voiceless therefore your movements require translation
given steel and made art objects given art objects the audience
made noise the noise was harmless to the state therefore the
state reciprocated with grants it did not matter that my art
objects were prison bars bent into letters to spell the word
abolition it did not matter that my art objects said fuck
ronald reagan said all presidents suck the state cannot dis-
tinguish between art objects barbed wire and roses are equal
to the state the state loves art objects until the art objects are
demolition crews outside police headquarters given dem-
olition crews in front of police headquarters the state will
murder artist artists donโ€™t destroy police therefore the state
feeds artists the state allows artists to sit on its lap given
the constraints of capitalism given rent due every month,
given family members in need given insulin prices the art-
ists will accept the lap of the state therefore those proclaim-
ing to speak for the voiceless are being translated by the
state therefore a microphone is the stateโ€™s constant art object
like a kaleidoscope it refracts the speakerโ€™s voice into the
same patriotic nonsense some artists donโ€™t know they are
being used by the state this makes them better compensated
representation doesnโ€™t matter for the children being held by
the state whatever they say isnโ€™t fit for art given applause
isnโ€™t an option given the exhibit is permanent given its ugl-
iness itโ€™s steel its pickled breath unfit for postcard therefore,
it is easier to listen to an artist outside detention capable of
spinning the secret into a coin we can share at a dinner party
where everyone will sign and look contemplatively thatโ€™s their
part in this American tragedy

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent to demand immediate & decisive action regarding Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Recent events have made unmistakably clear that ICE is no longer operating as a legitimate public safety agency. Its actions constitute systemic abuse of power, repeated violations of constitutional rights, and the terrorization of civilian communities โ€” including American citizens. What we are witnessing is not โ€œlaw enforcementโ€ but an unaccountable federal force operating with impunity

I call you to pursue the following actions formally pursued and publicly:

1. The full dismantling of ICE as an agency, with its functions either abolished or restructured under strict constitutional oversight. ICEโ€™s history of violence, secrecy, & disregard for civil liberties has rendered it irredeemable in its current form

2. Criminal accountability for individual ICE agents who engage in misconduct, excessive force, unlawful detention, or the use of lethal force against civilians. Federal employment must not shield anyone from prosecution

3. Legal & constitutional accountability for ICE leadership & federal officials who authorize, enable, or cover up unconstitutional conduct. This includes failures in training, rules of engagement, transparency, and discipline

4. Independent investigations with state-level participation, not internal federal reviews, into incidents involving civilian harm or death caused by ICE operations

5. Immediate suspension of aggressive federal immigration operations in civilian spaces that endanger lives, destabilize communities, & undermine public trust

ICEโ€™s conduct has instilled fear across entire neighborhoods โ€” immigrants & citizens alike. Families are traumatized. Communities are destabilized. The normalization of federal agents using military-style force in public spaces is incompatible with a constitutional democracy.

No agency is above the Constitution. No badge excuses violence. No โ€œenforcementโ€ mandate

One of the things that I most appreciate about my students is the way theyโ€™ve figured out how to encourage each other to speak. One student will posit an idea and say, โ€œMaybe that can be a starting point,โ€ and another will pick up that idea and build on it, so that they work together over time.

Pretti clearly did not brandish his gun. Which means the government is saying he was killed for legally exercising his right to carry.

Itโ€™s as clear-cut a violation of the Second Amendment as I can possibly imagine. And weโ€™re about to see the bulk of the gun rights crowd defend his murder.
