Same. Like he was absolutely fine with women being brutalized. He possibly cared about June but only as an extension of himself, and he didn’t care about her liberation or anyone else’s.

Good morning to everyone except people who are upset about Nick.

Seriously, y’all. He was an unrepentant nazi. #handmaidstale

It was good of this week’s #HandmaidsTale to use the #lectionary text.

My #HandmaidsTale takes (spoilers):

Nick has always been terrible. In the last episode his masked dropped and we saw his anger that pre-Gilead a woman like June would never have given him the time of day. He’s also shown all he cares about are people he loves, and has no values beyond that.

Ani DiFranco in 1995, at UGA. I think maybe ten people were in the room (one of whom was Amy Ray).

I deleted Twitter (for obvious reasons) and lost about 8,000 connections. I’d love to find folks here again! Where are the progressive and LGBTQ Christians?

I’ve listened to country for years and Beyonce is more country than so much of the stuff that’s come out of Nashville lately. Also, read up on the unacknowledged influence Black musicians have had on the music since its inception. Her win shouldn’t be surprising.

It’s still Black History Month. It doesn’t matter what anyone says. Listen to the stories, share them, refuse to let them be silenced.

Imagine being so scared of respecting other people that you would weaponize a horrific aviation crash against the idea of inclusion.

Episcopalians are great. So are PCUSA Presbyterians, UCCers, ELCA Lutherans, etc. Check out the mainline churches near you and find the best spiritual fit. You’ll hear the Gospel preached similarly in most!

It’s ironic how all the same voices who were screaming about religious liberty when gay folks just wanted to get married are now mad that a Bishop preached the Gospel as she understood it in the cathedral of her own diocese.

When we hear the Gospel preached, it should always make us somewhat uncomfortable. If we never hear anything that challenges us, that means the preacher isn’t doing their job.

Like many other authors, when I deleted Twitter I deleted an account that I’d spent years growing. It was my primary way of sharing news about my books. So, if you ever checked out my books, please follow along here! I’ll be more active now.
