So much of what you’ve said in this thread is painfully familiar, I wish I had recognized the possibilities before I was 20 years into an unsatisfying (but comfortable) office career.

As a kid I always wanted a STEM career, but when I couldn’t pass the calculus pre-reqs in undergrad I floundered in the humanities and squeaked out a degree after 5 years. Some blame falls on me for not seeking help or alternatives but it was never clear to my awkward young self that was an option.
