I recently attended a moving ceremony for Paul and Orial Redd. The Redds lived in Rye for over 50 years and were civil rights activists who won a landmark housing discrimination case. With Paul and Orial Redd Way, future generations will be able to learn about and honor the Redds’ legacy.

Trump said he’d cut costs on day one. And yet, costs are up across the board because of the reckless tariffs and the Big Ugly Bill, and Americans are feeling it.

My statement on the Trump Administration cutting $187 million in Homeland Security counterterrorism funding from multiple New York counties, including Westchester County and New York City.

This morning I stood with my Democratic colleagues here in DC, ready to work to protect affordable healthcare and keep the government open. Republicans have refused to negotiate or come back to DC, which is unacceptable.

I'm headed back to DC to fight to protect affordable healthcare for New Yorkers and keep the government open, even though the Republican majority has cancelled votes this week and have no plans to come back.

I was honored to meet with PM Kurti of the Republic of Kosovo. As a young nation, Kosovo has made great strides improving living standards while maintaining democratic principles. Keeping strong ties with allies like Kosovo is the best way to maintain peace, prosperity and democracy here and abroad.

Families and small businesses are getting crushed by rising costs — and Republican policies keep making it worse:
• Cutting Medicaid for 15 million people
• Letting ACA tax credits expire, raising premiums
• Slapping a 100% tariff on medicines, hiking drug prices

Let’s be clear: targeting former FBI Director Comey on trumped-up charges is simply political revenge. The same President who railed against the “weaponization” of the DOJ is now doing exactly that. This action undermines democracy and is dangerous for all Americans.

Without action by Trump and Congress, many of the ACA tax credits that help lower the cost of premiums will expire. I’m fighting in Congress to extend these critical tax credits and lower your healthcare costs.

This morning I attended the ribbon cutting for the new mixed-income building The Leaf in New Rochelle. Our region needs more housing, especially affordable housing. This complex will have over 100 affordable units and gets us one step closer to our goal of ensuring every New Yorker has a home.

If the current ACA tax credits expire, thousands of families will see their healthcare costs go up or could lose healthcare altogether. At a time when families are feeling the squeeze from increased costs throughout the economy, we must act to extend these credits as Congress works to fund the govt.

I just voted NO on the government funding bill. Democrats have sought a bipartisan dialogue to prevent a healthcare crisis but the White House wants to impose its policies without any negotiations. My full statement:

I was honored to recognize the life of Lynne T. Wagstaff on the House floor this week. She spent her entire career in public education and felt it was her responsibility not only to educate but to provide care and safety for children who were often underserved and overlooked. She will be missed.

In August I had the opportunity to tour Education First's International Language Campus and speak with young people from over 60 countries who are in Tarrytown to learn English. I applaud the courage and openness of these students in coming to the U.S. and meeting students from different cultures.

Jimmy Kimmel. Stephen Colbert. Suppression of free speech. Free speech is ok if you agree with it but if it disagrees with you, then out it goes. But that should not be true in America. We cannot let free speech be silenced.

This week the Foreign Affairs Committee worked on the bill that provides funding and structure to the State Department. There have been a mixed bag of proposed policies. But overall, I couldn’t support a bill that undermines the good work of the State Dept and our standing in the world.

Our rights don’t come with an asterisk. We don’t surrender the First Amendment or any right to political convenience. On this Constitution Day, let us remember: the greatest threat to democracy is not exercising our rights—it is the effort to suppress these rights.

Recently at the CDC, decades of sound science and public health progress are being cast aside in favor of conspiracy theories and pseudoscience. Many of us don't know the fear and devastation of measles and polio because vaccines have kept them at bay. Vaccines are safe, effective, and essential.

Last evening I attended the County, Larchmont/Mamaroneck, and Yonkers 9/11 remembrance ceremonies. It was meaningful to be with community members as we remember those who died and held first responders and survivors who still face health challenges in our thoughts.
