Nice! But it looks a little like a killer Grenfinch that was feeling peckish!

Ageing birder, north of Morecambe Bay and south and/ or west of the A590 and A591.

20.10.2025 13:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You'd have enjoyed Foulshaw Moss yesterday: Wren and Cetti's Warbler next to one another for about 45 seconds on a fence, completely photogenic, and I had no camera!

07.09.2025 21:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reasonably cool here when out of the sun: we're at 3,500 feet, but the sun burns, yes.
Lots of Eagles and other raptors, Citril Finches, Pied Flycatchers in bulk, and much more - need a photographer!
Enjoy your stay: quite jealous, actually.

01.09.2025 06:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A good surprise in South Lakes yesterday: 1 Cattle, 2 Little Egrets, and 1 Great White Egret together at one site.

It all sounds (groan) a bit fishy.

Nice shot with the detail on the Damselfly's wing it would crop to a nice head shot of the Wagtail - excellent.

17.06.2025 10:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On a beach in Dumfries, watching an Herring Gull dismembering, and eating a crab, I realised I was being bobbed and screamed at by a pair of Common Sandipers, and so moved off.

08.06.2025 17:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On my birthday, in December, I lit the stove and heard a fluttering, opened the door, and a House Sparrow flew out. Chased it out after some minutes, sat down and then heard further fluttering, opened the door & a second Sparrow flew out. A lit burner must have been hellish.
Happy holiday!
A nasty experience for a Blackbird. She came down the chimney into the wood burner and needed release. Already panicked, she missed the opened windows and thrashed against glass, screaming as she was gently held and given freedom. It was a dreadful sound, but she flew fast away.

'A serious house on serious earth it is,
In whose blent air all our compulsions meet,
Are recognised, and robed as destinies.
And that much never can be obsolete,
Since someone will forever be surprising
A hunger in themself to be more serious,
And gravitating with it to this ground... P Larkin.
Excellent feet!
