One thing I kind of love about Portland is that there’s no gayborhood because the whole city is just kind of queer. You can’t really go anywhere without seeing something welcoming and affirming.

Cult Classics *feels* queer, but I don’t know if it actually is. The Checkered Flag is blue-collar coded and openly welcoming. Worker’s Tap if you really want to give him a lefty Portland experience. Any local coffee shop is guaranteed to have at least 1 queer barista, septum-piercing optional.

So the gassing did happen, but it was Saturday rather than Monday or Tuesday (I saw it reported as both)?

For many people, it is the only way they have to reliably access community and resources. It doesn’t have to be that way, but it *is* that way for some. Encourage community groups to go elsewhere, and the people will leave too.

The entire state of Oregon is vote-by-mail. There isn’t even a voting location for the goons to go to intimidate people from voting.

The point is that the policy outcome is the actually important thing, not the slogan. We can call it literally anything as long as it gets more people to support an *outcome* that abolishes ICE.

I called it a “me-me” when I first encountered the term on Livejournal in the early aughts. I had no fucking idea what it was.

I firmly believe most people who complain Taco Bell gives them the shits just aren’t used to eating that much fiber.

The compromise is we basically keep our current system, but every person who holds one of those jobs is immediately sent to prison for life at the end of their term/upon retirement. That’s what happens if you want the job and try to get it.

I’ve long thought (only half-joking) that we should have a random draw from qualified individuals to choose president, congress, cabinet, and SCOTUS. People who want those jobs are immediately disqualified.

I hope their parents are ashamed and thinking about where they went wrong.

I won’t even consider listening to anyone elected to, or running for, office who isn’t calling to abolish ICE and impeach Trump. At minimum. Cabinet and SCOTUS impeachments should be on the table too.

It’s a variation on the just-world fallacy. Some people need to blame *all* Americans and assume we’re all doing nothing to resist, because otherwise it would be true that this can happen anywhere and there might not be something they, individually, can do to protect themselves.

This isn't a left-right ideological issue. But it blows me away that anyone who is actually anti-Trump would think running back Joe Biden/Merrick Garland 2.0 will work the second time. No political party can tolerate a very large, armed secret police force committed to murdering its voters.
