Flicking through some of the most joyful Concept Cat raps/songs on YouTube. Such a fun, engaging way to develop vocab! I can see this being a really useful approach for some of my gestalt language processors too (esp those at Stage 3 & beyond). Definitely worth checking out! @wordaware.bsky.social
28.06.2025 09:23 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks! Itβs a great way to switch off/de-stress. Iβm on AL this week and have spent the morning making mermaid hair!
29.05.2025 12:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Deal!

28.05.2025 20:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey you! Hope youβre doing ok R xx
28.05.2025 18:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thatβs very kind, but the truth is that I either find an outlet for my creations or I need a bigger house!
28.05.2025 18:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thatβs a good point. Iβve contacted a local homeless charity asking if they might be able to donate/sell to raise funds.
28.05.2025 15:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It really has flown by. Dinky was 1 in Feb & sheβs almost as sassy as her big sister now! π
28.05.2025 11:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you! I think heβs going to be very loved!
Iβd really like to make a few things for a charity (or similar) - any ideas?
Does anyone know of a charity or something similar I could make toys for? (puppets/teddies, etc)
28.05.2025 10:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve also made him red wellies & a mini umbrella and a matching red hat - toddler sized for her to wear, but had to force myself to wrap it all up this morning because I donβt think Iβd have stopped!
28.05.2025 09:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Still completely addicted to crocheting so I thought Iβd make Paddington bear (& some of his many outfits!) for my granddaughterβs 3rd birthday. Really pleased with how these turned out π

I mentioned them / the book / resources to the 2 SENCOs but I donβt work on Fridays so havenβt had a chance to look myself yet. Although Iβve got all of the other WA books & Iβve no doubt this is just as excellent!
28.03.2025 10:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excellent @wordaware.bsky.social workshop today, jam packed with fun, engaging ideas to help build childrenβs vocabulary - already emailed 2 SENCOs to recommend they sign up!
27.03.2025 22:29 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Excellent article for all SLTs/SLPs regardless of speciality / areas of interest #WeSpeechies
22.03.2025 14:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"They don't realize how hard he has to try every day". A team of researchers have listened to caregivers' experience of parenting a child with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). I think lots of you will find this interesting. You can read the article here onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....
18.03.2025 03:08 β π 8 π 7 π¬ 1 π 1Looking forward to some @wordaware.bsky.social training thatβs happening in my team soon AND apparently youβre running it Stephen!
20.03.2025 17:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 03 schools handed out 2,408 fixed term exclusions in one term??
23.02.2025 20:22 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Also, agree, it isnβt a new concept at all, itβs just explained very well & fundamental to the approach a lot of children need - including the majority on my caseload who are gestalt language processors/AAC users, so I spend a lot of time explaining/modelling these things!
20.02.2025 21:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh this is great! Thank you for sharing, I think Iβll be using it a lot!
20.02.2025 20:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think the examples alone are well worth the money! Only thing Iβd change is the subtext & references to βsocial learning challengesβ as Iβd imagine that might put some ppl off.
20.02.2025 20:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Highly recommend this book for anyone working with children/YP who donβt do well with βdemandsβ - itβs also full of simple examples of how to put the strategies into practice in everyday contexts (plus itβs only Β£7:50 on Amazon!)
20.02.2025 19:51 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well said! ππππ
18.02.2025 23:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is utterly dehumanising and it has to stop.
17.02.2025 23:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Read a few of these βEmpty reviewsβ recently.
βover time, the discourse gets more meaningless and irrelevant to the actual work of applying all that we can know to accomplish that which is our discipline's social mandateβ
