The fact that 1/2 the cast can’t really sing is part of what makes “Once More with Feeling” so good IMHO. It’s not about the music, it’s about the repressed emotions underneath it all.

That said, Amber Benson’s voice is untouchable and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

The last 2 words of the episode don’t undercut Buffy’s monologue at all, if anything, they UNDERSCORE it. It’s a whole speech about owning her power and those 2 words are like “you’ve reached the next level, here’s a next level threat.”

“Checkpoint” is so good it eclipses all the silly BS made by “Into The Woods.”

Structurally it’s such a solid script. It’s a perfectly placed mid-season reset/refocus. And Buffy’s monologue at the end is such a mic drop moment.

Literally right till the very end. It’s so infuriating. I was so happy to see Emma Caulfield in WandaVision and Agatha All Along. I wanted more of her. I want everything for her.

Her comedic timing, unmatched. She she’s got the dramatic chops to bring any scene to a HAULT. Ugh. So good.

There was no saving that. Buffy deserved better and it’s fucked that not a single one of her friends told her that in the whole goddamn episode.

In fact Xander went and did the exact opposite.

“Into The Woods” is one of the most frustrating episodes of Buffy.

Not because he left and Buffy almost got to him, but because that stinking asshat Xander convinced her to run after him. Xander is the worst character of all time. Cosmonaut Variety Hour nailed it.

I think I may need to track down a new DVD set (since ya know things and stuff) cuz this is hard to watch.

I’ve rewatched an episode or two here and there on Hulu but haven’t done a rewatch in years.
