On Wednesday, Ken Sim will direct staff to make brutal cuts to the City's budget - putting the services you and I rely on at risk.

We need to stand up to him.

We deserve a government that is stable, thoughtful, and predictable.

What we’ve got with Ken Sim and his enablers in ABC is a political roller coaster.

Instead of leadership, performance and politics.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we acknowledge we have a responsibility to build a future based on reconciliation, decolonization, and the recognition of Indigenous rights.

A better future for everyone who lives on these lands.

Big cuts are coming to Vancouver City Hall. Will they be 'reckless' or the cost-saving efficiency Ken Sim has long promised? ABC Vancouver is looking to cut about $100 million from the city’s operating budget, and potentially hundreds of jobs, in search of savings.

They’re doing this to save their political skins after three years of floundering, and if this comes to pass, we’re all going to suffer the consequences.

It’s underappreciated just how radical ABC's budget proposal is. It requires deep, deep cuts.

If they are approved, it’s impossible to tell what’s on the chopping block. Libraries? Community centres? Investments that improve public safety?

I don’t know - and I don’t think ABC knows, either.

…while Rebecca Bligh of the NPA said she was also influenced by the fact that the townhouse project would damage the β€œiconic look” of Granville Street with its large single-family homes and tall hedges and oak trees.

Rebecca Bligh just announced she wants to be Mayor.

She's had some ups and downs as councilor, but I'll always remember her Shaughnessy votes: voting against rental townhomes there (citing the "iconic look" of its hedges) and against OneCity's motion to legalize more housing in Shaughnessy.

Rebecca Bligh voted to slash wages for workers, to block rental housing in wealthy neighbourhoods, and to oppose common sense tools to properly fund our schools.

We need a progressive mayor on the ballot to deliver the change Vancouver needs. And we’ll get one. More soon.

I live in a 3 storey condo building on a quiet side street that was built in the 70s, and I love it. It’s green and peaceful, but mere steps to the transit and shopping of a major road. Allowing up to 6 floors wouldn’t be a significant change, and would open this up to more people

18.09.2025 02:13 β€” πŸ‘ 17    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is so disappointing. This means us poorer folks that can’t afford luxury detached housing is still artificially blocked from nice quiet streets by archaic city zoning.

I support a democratically elected park board. Part of democracy is ensuring that the government’s decisions match the city’s values.

Vancouver is a city for all its people. Trans people included. I am calling on the Park Board to rethink this event and make this right.

Out on the picket line today with @bcgeu.bsky.social.

If you work, you should be able to live in dignity and security. Public service workers, like all workers, shouldn’t need second and third jobs just to get by.

If you find yourself by a picket line, remember: don’t cross it!

B.C. municipal council votes unanimously to ask Ottawa to impose arms embargo on Israel | CBC News Councillors in Burnaby, B.C., have unanimously passed a motion that asks the federal government to impose a two-way arms embargo on Israel amid the current war in Gaza.

Deep gratitude for our courageous neighbours in Burnaby for their leadership last night.

The ongoing genocide and imposed famine Israel is carrying out in Gaza threatens our universal dignity and humanity; we stand in solidarity with everyone affected.

If Ken Sim respected the role of the Integrity Commissioner, he wouldn't have tried to fire her while under investigation.

It’s clear that Ken Sim and his ABC enablers would prefer to have Council be a rubber stamp for their private agenda.

No wonder they tried to fire the Integrity Commissioner. She's a constant reminder that the people of this city who oppose their agenda deserve to be heard.

Your time is valuable. But ABC is wasting it. Instead of building bus lanes, they're chasing pet projects and planning a budget that will require big cuts. It's time for a city government that is ready to invest in transit and get us moving.

This is ridiculous. During the by-election I heard over and over again about how hard it is to find swimming lessons.

Too many kids are falling through the cracks. If parents can't teach their kids how to swim in our public pools, how are they supposed to learn?
