Rebecca Bligh voted to slash wages for workers, to block rental housing in wealthy neighbourhoods, and to oppose common sense tools to properly fund our schools.

We need a progressive mayor on the ballot to deliver the change Vancouver needs. And we’ll get one. More soon.

Bligh has a decent amount of support from the province and feds (more than Sim or Allam at this point), which could help.

But her 6 years being a supporter of Ken Sim, and getting elected under both the NPA and ABC banners, means it’ll be difficult to get support from local left-wing parties.

My follow up story today: An effort by Canadian entrepreneurs to cut public spending is distancing itself from DOGE, Elon Musk’s federal employee slashing agency.

The β€˜Progressive Primary’: Who Will Win? | The Tyee Local campaigns and voter efficiency should be top of mind as you decide where you place your ballot.

@willshelling.bsky.social: Progressives must be mindful that coalescing a vote around two parties may have long-term, deleterious effects for our politics, discourse and polarization.

The Modi β€˜friends’ who helped finance Poilievre’s leadership campaign | Globalnews.ca Former leaders of Overseas Friends of BJP Canada donated thousands to the Conservative leader and his party.

So Global news is reporting that what a lot of people quietly suspected was the reason why the leader of a Canadian political party refused to get the security clearance necessary to read the report on foreign interference in canadian elections is … a darn good guess, actually:

My latest for @thetyee.ca. Growing up on Fox and seeing what can happen in Canada should concern us all, and question why one party wants to smash our sword before battle.

We chose in part to raise our kids in Canada because they’re much safer from gun violence here than in the U.S. The last thing I want to see on city council is someone using NRA talking points. By-election turnout is always very lowβ€”if you live in Vancouver, PLEASE vote & keep this guy off council.

This writing this is pretty fun when you’ve got an editor like Jackie ☺️

I did some writing this week about the importance of our communities as we face the very real threat of annexation and bolster our Team Canada approach.

Just finished watching the Jordan Peterson x Pierre Poilievre interview.

I yelled at my screen multiple times and took a lot of very frustrated notes.

In a response several hours after the news broke, a UMG rep told Variety: β€œThe suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.β€œ

Why Democrats won't build their own Joe Rogan "This is not a cultural war that you can win just by doing fucking podcasts" + Meat Loaf’s wikipedia drama, eating disorder Twitter turns on Trump, DDG on Kai Cenat

A big part of why the Democrats will never β€œbuild their own Joe Rogan” is bc democrats want a media ecosystem that they can control and is loyal to the Democratic establishment. Leftists content creators are at odds with that www.usermag.co/p/why-democr...

Musk spent $44 billion to buy Twitter and then tried to save money by laying off half the staff, including engineers responsible for maintaining site infrastructure. Like buying a Ferrari and trying to save money by skipping oil changes.
