Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.
The WA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.

Wait so Kimmel didn’t even make a joke about Charlie Kirk and the morons still got butthurt….ABC taking him off the air "indefinitely" because Trump’s FCC guy threatened them for this nothing burger is insane….this is full blown fascism!

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.

One of the hallmarks of authoritarianism is to terrify people into self-censorship. ABC ending Kimmel’s show is the perfect example of this.

Loved the Jaws exhibit at Academy Museum, but I was surprised it didn’t acknowledge John Milius’ uncredited writing contribution, especially to Quint’s dialogue. His work helped shape one of the film’s most iconic moments.

Brian De Palma is 85 today.
A student of Hitchcock who turned paranoia, voyeurism, and excess into a cinematic language of his own. For me, his best run was Carrie, Blow Out, Dressed to Kill, Body Double, and Carlito’s Way.

Sometimes ambition without clarity isn’t bold, it’s just exhausting. Alien: Earth wastes high-concept ideas, turning what could be thought-provoking sci-fi into a confusing, hollow spectacle that feels cheapened. It lacks the cerebral edge and pacing that made this universe so unnerving. #AlienEarth

So far, my take on Alien: Earth: kids in adult bodies feels comedic. The xeno is shot like a man-in-a-rubber-suit, Peter Pan allegories that don’t land, a whole table scene devoted to unnecessary world building exposition, and cyborgs thrown in for no reason at all. It’s very visual but tonally off.

Let me start by saying I had my issues with Romulus. It was nostalgia-heavy, predictable, and had CGI Ian Holm with unnecessary exposition, but at least it tried to respect the Alien franchise. I appreciate Noah trying to expand the universe, but Alien: Earth makes Romulus look like a masterpiece.

I don’t want to sound like a complainer. I support the film community and love keeping people working in our industry. That said, this will be my last rant about Alien: Earth, and here’s what I really think about it…
