Our idealogue premier in Alberta is trying to interfere with Edmonton's bike lanes too πŸ™„. We are not allowed mobility, heat or power if a fossil fuel isn't burned to make it happen.

I have incredible news for #yyj history and transportation nerds. *One* day after this post, someone scanned the 1965 "Capital Region of British Columbia Transportation Study" and uploaded it to the @victoria.ca archives. You can now download the entire document! archives.victoria.ca/capital-regi...

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Minimum Parking Requirements are Pseudoscience
And your city can repeal them too.

New (used) bike day, though not for me! Saw that someone was selling a used Gazelle for a great price & shared the post. My mom texted me right away that she wanted it, so I went & bought it for her to get later. I've recommended this bike for years & I fully stand by that after riding it around.

Only bad news. Anything short of a full repeal is a failure IMO.

🚨The Denver City Council voted 9-3 to abolish minimum parking requirements citywide for all uses. This means more room for homes, small businesses, and peopleβ€”not empty asphalt. A major step toward a more affordable, sustainable, and people-focused city.

Super innovative use of ride tracking. Proving driver was at fault and lied to the cops (or was too unaware to notice, not sure which is worse) about hitting a cyclist. πŸ‘‡ Bravo!

Young girl dies after being hit by vehicle in northeast Calgary alley Police say a young girl has died after she was hit by a vehicle in a northeast Calgary alley Monday evening.

Stop this.

Road violence is a result of choices, decisions, and cruel indifference.

We are a broken society unmoved to adopt proven solutions that appear to inconvenience drivers but result in spared injuries and lives.

Making Canadian cities children of their provincial gov't was the fatal flaw of the Constitution Act of 1867 (with the caveat that cities are often children who need to be punished).

A terrible conundrum.

A comparison:
45 miles of protected bike lane = 72.4km or 0.17m/person
City of Victoria has built ~19 km in that same time person, or 0.21 km/person
