02.10.2025 05:32 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I missed this recently, but NASA & ESA recently announced they discovered the 6000th exoplanet confirmation. That seems amazing to me, and it was just yesterday there were 10. Very abundant indeed. The imagination runs wild with this.

04.09.2025 04:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a wide-ish angle view of the Milky Way Galaxy and the Southern most view of it. The milky way has tufts of dust, gas and stars in its spiral shape, and this shows the bands at their southernmost perch in August. There are at least 50 eye candy nebula, clusters, and other dark nebule in this view.
Here's what I worked on this weekend. The Summer Southern Milky Way! Using Canon R6, 70mm Zoom Lens @f/5.6, ISO 6400. A stack of 45sx10 frames, tracked on a Sky Guider. The data was captured at Cherry Springs State Park on 8/26. #astrophotography #astronomy #milkyway ππ·π #stilllearning

25.08.2025 02:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Here is a wide field shot I took at Cherry Springs Star Party back in June. Just getting around to processing it. Shows a lot of the dynamic of a star party... Canon Ra mirrorless, f2.8,15s, ISO 6400. #astrophotography #astronomy ππ·π

Grab the antihistamines. The dark seahorse nebula, Fireworks Galaxy, and an open star cluster (lower left), all squattinβ in a large field of molecular dust. Taken with my Takahashi Epsilon in SW New Mexico and processed by me in central Virginia. Giddyup. #astrophotography #photography
28.06.2025 22:58 β π 222 π 30 π¬ 6 π 0It doesn't get much better than a Cherry Springs Sunset on a clear night. The anticipation just adds to the dark sky effect of that park.
23.06.2025 21:49 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Same on the weather front. I think I have scored 7 nights in 2025. Cherry Springs has been well, sadly consistent so far. I did score some sucker hole and earl AM moon, Venus, Mercury binoc time. Here's to us both having a better second half of 2025! #Ckearskies!
20.06.2025 02:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A star field with a larger galaxy above a smaller one. The larger one has been deformed through the encounter and has a faint halo that hooks around to the right. These galaxies are 52 million ly away in Ursa Major.
I was hoping to be more prolific during galaxy season but the weather has not cooperated. I did get an LRGB capture of NGC 3817 & NGC 3829 through my 8β SCT at f/10. I need more L data to bring out the tidal halo better but itβs a good start.π #Astrophotography
