Oregon has one of shortest school years, lowest graduation rates in U.S. Washington students go to school the equivalent of an entire school year longer than Oregon kids, due to Oregon's shorter school years. What does that mean for graduation rates?

If he was really worried about fitness and obesity among children, he’d be looking at the vast number of neighborhoods with no sidewalks, bike lanes, or crosswalks, where kids can’t go anywhere unless they’re in a car.

A friend who is a public works director for a small suburban city in Oregon said 2/3 to 3/4 of his active projects are stalled. Things like repairs to the local water system, bridges, etc. Federal counterparts have no idea what is happening or how long it will last.

Code for: anyone who is not a straight, white, able-bodied, non-veteran male is suspected to have been a DEI hire, and should therefore be fired. All federal agencies should be completely staffed by straight, white, able-bodied men, top to bottom, no exceptions. No one else deserves a job.

Who defines what is DEI? Does this mean any time that anyone anywhere who isn't a white man has a job in a government agency, they're on the short list to be fired? Because they must have been hired through DEI?

So I kinda think that somewhere in his addled brain, he's talking about the Pacific Northwest, where in his last administration he wanted to divert the Columbia River to California. Because it flows to the ocean. Or something something. We could build him a giant faucet. Cue the Monty Python music.

If condo/townhouses are the way to go, we also need to seriously look at the laws/rules around condo maintenance. Case in point, the Surfside condo collapse in Florida in 2021, because of deferred maintenance. Maintenance is expensive. But condo owners can't defer it forever.

Look at items offered “on sale” in a grocery store, and ask if anyone could carry them on a bike. Common in the US is a sale price only if you buy 2 or 3 of the things, and now you have a big bulky load of shopping that will no longer fit on a bike.
