why is it HOT MILK cake? among other things, when this recipe was listed in the Chicago Tribune in 1911, milk pasteurization was not yet federally regulated and wouldn't be for several more decades!

I admire your conviction!! American buttercream is too sweet for me, personally, and I generally like the kinds of cakes without frosting the most. But there are many very adamant frosting lovers!
