Well…… that was one of the wildest hours of television I’ve watched in a while #severance

I couldn’t agree more. To me, those kinds of movies aren’t truly “horror,” or at least don’t embrace what it really can and should be … how much dread can you really have if they’re also trying to make you feel that they deserved it, if not actively rooting for them to get their comeuppance, lol?

Well said… beauty and horror are two sides of the same coin, and there’s always at least a thread of universality in even the most specific terrors

What makes great #horror? The striking of deeply personal chords? Confronting universal inevitabilities? Monsters, moments, or buildup? I think about this often while writing, but I’ve come to believe the answer is moreso about doing enough to allow the reader/viewer to empathize

How do you feel about backstory in the 1st chapter of a book? Don’t think I’d *quite* call it a prologue, but my current WIP starts with the MC’s recent past before getting to the present, kicking off the action. Interesting or turnoff? 🤔

In general I’m not a huge fan of these movies, but the “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” kid in Insidious remains such a cool and creepy little sequence. #Horror
