Travel tips! Never buy the London visitor card which supposedly acts like an Oyster card. It is a total rip off. Also, never use a VISA on the tube, get an international money account with something like WISE. VISA tube rides were a fortune comparatively. Oh, #London why are you so grifty?

Great article on how exhaustingly complex the perils of energy transitioning during climate change. We've left it all too late and also been unable to comprehend the ever expanding complications of how we will mitigate the climate crisis. Lots of great info here.

Unpopular opinion, the chatter around Katy and Justin is really sexist. If you hate them why are you posting about them?

Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change. Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

β€œAir pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.

I guess having both the District & Circle lines down on the wknd creating a situation where every Londoner then has to take the Piccadilly Line turning a 40min journey into a two hour one with the bonus of being crushed onto a tube car is part of the "visit London" experience.

Met lovely guy on the bus in London today who asked us where we were from, when we said Canada he said he heard a nasty rumour we were going to become part the US. Gary said, "not in a million years, we burned the White House down before, we'll do it again if we have to". Big smiles from everyone.

In rural areas A LOT of people shop through Amazon but it is a Canada Postal outlet where they pick up their packages, as Amazon won't deliver to rural addresses. So, what happens to all that if CP closes rural offices? Amalgamating into one place will be a nightmare, these are not big spaces.

While I love the First Nations idea of seven generations I wouldn't assume that we take that on literally but we should at least remember that we only know about Da Vinci because societies over time kept his work in stable, good condition. It is a hopeful thing to do.

Maybe Peterborough doesn’t need an art gallery On Tripadvisor the Art Gallery of Peterborough is listed as #11 of 54 top attractions in Peterborough. More popular than the Landsdowne Mall and the Memorial Centre, but not as popular as MusicFest…

Art galleries need to be supported regardless of numbers. We don't have any right to just make decisions about publicly funded repositories of a place's stories. They aren't just for us, they are for the future too. @troutinplaid.bsky.social troutinplaid.com/2025/09/26/m...

Brilliant, clear eyed view of far right thinking seeping into all manner of life now. It's too late to stop this tide. Progressives continue to fight amongst themselves as money + extremism takes over.

Edvard Munch was 18, a student at the Royal School of Drawing in Oslo when he completed this self-portrait in 1882, the first of many hundreds over the course of his life. For a painter interested in the mystery of identity, there was no richer subject than his ever-changing self.
