East of Lowestoft. Easton Bavents was once the most easterly parish in England. However, over the centuries, the promontory it stood on was eroded by the sea. EB is still losing land today: up to 5m a year in fact. 😯

Dunwich was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having a population of 484 households 😲. Ipswich, by comparison, only had 322.

This is/was All Saints' church at Dunwich. Dunwich once had approx 10 churches but devastating storms in the 13th and 14th century destroyed them (and the town). Also, longshore drift created a shingle bar across its once thriving harbour.
