I don’t know about that. The first Trump impeachment tied him up and distracted him a great deal. Even a vote to censure will vex him. And there’s the matter of just getting things on the record. The House cannot stand silent, offering implied consent. Make the toads in the GOP senate acquit him.

I’m not sure if this necessarily shows “Republicans” turning out? A lot of Trump support in NYC is low-information voters who just want someone who’s bold and will do something. That’s how Mamdani started his campaign, by talking to them and asking them about bold policy proposals.

I met someone today who told me she supported Trump last year because “Biden legalized all the drugs.” She meant legal weed in NYC. I explained that’s an NYS law and that it’s still illegal federally. She insisted that laws are signed by presidents. She teaches middle school history

Yes. At minimum, for most households, there’s at least one other decision maker who might not want or be able to leave. The question is more an indicator of how much drama people are feeling about the election than a predictor of what they’ll actually do.

I find this distraction discourse unhelpful. Trump's video was appalling and significant and should be analyzed and denounced, and part of the work of politics is to turn it into a major controversy in its own right, as a symbol of Trump's autocratic disdain for the people.
