Iโ€™ve seen this in WA, harm the most vulnerable first is the agenda. Hopefully Katie Wilson is paying attention and has a team to help her fix this asap. Our kids are in crisis.

Exploring the role of high-value crops to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in New Zealand - Regional Environmental Change This study explores the potential benefits of transitioning from livestock farming to high-value alternative crops as a strategy for mitigating agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in New Zeala...

Why the fek aren't we doing this?

"Except for mฤnuka honey and peas, alternative crops were expected to be more profitable per ha than livestock."

"Profitability was predicted to increase by NZ$1.32 billion (Fig. 3), an increase of about NZ$6800/ha compared to average returns for livestock"

Newly detailed nerve links between brain and other organs shape thoughts, memories, and feelings Studies of interoception challenge distinctions between disorders of the brain and bodyโ€”and may hold clues to the basis of consciousness

Back in 2021, we hypothesized brain-heart interactions could signal mental processing, potentially detecting consciousness in unresponsive patients. And we succeeded: www.jneurosci.org/content/41/2...

Here's a look at the extent of the "warmth" across the #Arctic in October. This map uses my normal anomaly scaling for each month, but it clearly doesn't work for something this extreme.

Federal weather enterprise rises to the occasion again with Melissa - thanks to volunteers and unpaid employees When a federal government "shutdown" is not really a shutdown. And also looking at the continued longer term impacts of ongoing and threatened budget cuts.

Now that #Melissa is behind us as a tropical system, we need to have an honest conversation about how the federal weather enterprise is still running because of volunteers & unpaid employees, and how this "shutdown" is not really a shutdown.

Cutting the entire education department serving deaf-blind students is beyond inhuman. The level of expertise it takes to train & serve these kids is extensive and with the already spread thin nature of this work, there are no replacements for those fired, those who dedicated their lives to helping.

It indicates that what weโ€™re doing is not working, and that just simply throwing more money at the problem is not working,โ€ he said. โ€œThatโ€™s my area of interest. Holding people, holding politicians, holding government accountable for how it spends money and the promises that it makes.

Myers argues that significant increases in education spending have not improved student outcomes. โ€œWeโ€™ve spent a lot of money. We compensate our teachers well, but during that same period of time, the NAEP [National Assessment of Educational Progress] scores have gone down.

not meeting improvement goals. โ€œThey clearly removed this because they wanted to make it more difficult for people to understand how weโ€™re doing at meeting those targets,โ€ he said. โ€œUnfortunately, I see it all too often. When the data are inconvenient to the government, they simply hide the data.โ€

in OSPIโ€™s latest release of student test score data, proficiency measures appeared to be adjusted, such that year-over-year comparisons were not a good gauge of improvement or decline. Myers contends OSPI took down the data to hide the fact that Washington students in public schools are

This would be well below the previously stated goal of โ€˜getting each student group to 90% proficiency in English language artsโ€ฆโ€™ as was stated on the now-removed State Targets web page. The same is true for math, where only 63.3% are achieving at Level 2, 3, or 4.โ€ As reported by The Center Square,
