I don't think that's really 'better', with the high diversity of systems these days you're likely to waste time reinventing the wheel. at least as a first step see what's out there and then if you need to make modifications, at least you have a base that isn't DnD.

as someone who played it and enjoyed it on release, HEAVY RAIN is absolutely the top answer here. absolutely a worse game than Bioshock Infinite which is the top contender so far on other replies
