Great episode. Re the welfare cuts/acute health crisis we're experiencing, nobody mentions austerity. Data shows by 2019, we were already dying/getting very sick as a direct result. Highly recommend Social Murder, a book by academic colleagues David Walsh& Gerry McCartney from Uni of Glasgow.

Data centres require huge amounts of water to stay cool. I can't remember which paper I read recently, but it estimated every single AI email takes a 500ml bottle of water to cool the system. Amazon have/are trying to buy entire annual output from a Scottish reservoir for it's UK data centres

Crypto mentuoned in a podcast this morning in that BRICs are (is?) discussing using electronic tokens as currency within their trading agreements and thought, aha, THAT'S what Trump is angling for, boosting crypto (which he's already lucratively milked). I've never watched Mr Robot though π¬

I'm a bit chubby and I only have one boob which made me feel very awkward at first. But I'm also myopic so without my specs I can't see if anyone is gawking. I go at 10am, when the school run mums and pre-work athletes are gone. It's quiet. I feel strong in the water, it's good for my wonky body.

Doesn't seem to be. There's talk of a class action in the States but we don't have that option here. It's completely illegal in the UK but I guess hard to stop it when it's happening on a global scale βΉοΈ

Paid employment. Cutting it does nothing to 'encourage' folk back to work, in fact it will do the opposite. The illogicality of the govt going after it really rips my knitting. In Scotland it's called ADP and likely ScotGiv will mitigate any cut to it up here, as it does two child/bedroom tax

Love the podcast but must point to a fundamental mistake re benefits cuts. PIP is not an out of work benefit, it's non means tested and offsets the additional costs disabled/sick people navigate. Many in receipt are in work - precisely because of it. Fraud rate is zero. It enables participating in

Cannot get my head around the wilful blindness. This is not a fiscal problem, it's a health crisis. (Don't get me started on PIP not being a sickness benefit but an essential in-work/in-the-world/in-life support for so many)
