Yeah, all those people who came to steal jobs by getting paid less than minimum wage suddenly found a way to cobble enough together for a 20% down payment on a $400,000 home. The American Dream truly is amazing.

Literally the day after I get contested for suggesting that the release of the Epstein Files prior to the '24 election wouldn't have moved the needle at all, this gem comes out.

I think any online discussion often misses the point that Charters and Choice schools vary in their implementation on a state by state basis. The system in Colorado is different than Texas which is different from Massachusetts.

Looking at how long his other trials took I'm inclined to disagree.
12.11.2025 20:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Oh hell no. We should certainly have a trial, just once he's out of the position where he can pardon himself or direct the DOJ to drop the case. Like he did with other suits against him.
12.11.2025 20:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Trials take a long time. Even longer if your counsel is adept at stall tactics, as his are.

It's an easier scapegoat to understand, too: most Americans have absolutely zero idea how the economy works.
12.11.2025 18:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Could be that, too.
12.11.2025 16:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I do. I'm not saying it should not have been done, I'm saying had it been done, it would not have moved the needle on the election.
12.11.2025 16:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I'm not apologizing for the lack of disclosure earlier, I just doubt this will change attitudes more than the poor state of the economy for most voters, but maybe the political winds will shift in a direct I wasn't expecting. Maybe this will catalyze people in a new way. I'm just not hopeful.
12.11.2025 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
They view Trump as their guy who made it in defiance of the elites. He's crude, he's crass, he says what he wants and acts with impunity. He's rich but not elite in the way that technocratic Democrats are viewed.
12.11.2025 16:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
I am aware of that, Bryce. I just think a lot of people would have ignored it versus their economic concerns. Personally, I hope this whole thing is what takes him down, that GOP reps and senators finally use it to regrow their spines. But I'm doubtful. I think it'll play out like E Jean Carrol.
12.11.2025 16:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Coulda been. Also could have been ignored like the Carrol judgement. And the Stormy Daniels thing. And the laundry list of other sexual misconduct he partook in. My hunch is personal economic pain drives voting more than any other factor. Attila the Hun could win if he lowered taxes.
12.11.2025 16:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
I liked it because it was a good point. But I also think that economic factors would outweigh voting for a known predator. Like, it's public knowledge he's a predator already. He lost a civil suit and clearly made under-the-table payments to other women. Voters turned up because of the economy.
12.11.2025 16:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Voters already know that he's a sexual predator. That he's a cheat. They didn't care. They felt pain because of inflation and wanted to push back against the forces they felt caused it - economic elites, led by Democrats. Who better than a bully to do it?
12.11.2025 16:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
In an off-cycle year during a good economy, yeah, then it can be a single issue that voters care about. But in an economy that doesn't work for most voters? They already knew he's an abuser of women, that he's a liar and a cheat. They voted for him anyways.
12.11.2025 15:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Jones won by a hair. Like 1% margin. And this was in '17, during an off-cycle election in a solid economy. Now, with an economy that doesn't work for most people, during a major cycle, no, I don't think it would have made any impact. Voters already know he's an abuser, they voted for him anyways.
12.11.2025 15:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
I just don't think it would have mattered. People would have ignored it, just like they ignored the Access Hollywood tape and the many, many accusations of sexual misconduct already laid at his feet.
12.11.2025 15:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Doubtful. Here's the only data point I have on that, which is when Roy Moore was upset by Doug Jones in AL. Here's voting breakdowns by race and gender.
12.11.2025 15:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
It wouldn't have mattered if he did. It would have been painted as a partisan pursuit and prosecution of political enemies rather than believed. Having it come out now is better, frankly.

No, I think Republicans are looking to enact the huge ACA rate spike with the end of subsidies so they can say "Obamacare made healthcare unaffordable!" and then run on healthcare affordability in the midterms, or use it to kill the ACA in its entirety. Likely the former, since they hate governing.

Connect for Health Colorado plans to double in cost
The price spike is likely to lead Coloradans to forego health insurance.
So, this is bad. Share this with your conservative friends and family, let them know this is what Dems are actually fighting against.
