What policy goal is this meant to achieve? Discourage parents (usually women) from staying home with children and encourage them to work instead?

It is akin to “this is not a tax” on the individual mandate. Sometimes the court just wants to pretend Presidents don’t mean what they say.

We will almost certainly see these numbers unfortunately continue to bump up or remain stagnant as the Trump administrations isolationist and inhumane policies take effect.

Tere could be other systemic things going on that could cause '08 like pain. We are only starting to feel inflationary effects of the new tariff regime. The fed is lowering interest rates simultaneously. We're seeing tighter labor market. AI bubble could burst. Combined, that could mean stagflation.

Should bear mentioning that the mortgage crisis was a crisis b/c of how deeply embedded mortgaged-back securities were in financial markets.

Banks aren't using derivatives on privately held OpenAI shares credit aren't like dollar bills. So even if there's an AI bubble, it shouldn't cause '08 pain.

I think it's my favorite track on the album. I'm putting this out into the universe that I really want Taylor Swift to lean even more into alt rock vibes for an album. If all she did was re-produce Black Dog to just let go with full electric in the final verse and chorus, it'd be a top album for me.

It is also her most versatile album. Lots of range track to track.

Was not expecting to like it as much as I do. But overall incredible Album. For a mid-life male who grew up on alt rock, fun to see her lean in to some of those ingredients on Actually Romantic and Cancelled.

The Harrison Begerone solution is not really a great idea.

1. Huge fan of building your team so that people can really disconnect. The newer someone is, the less plugged in they are and the easier that can happen.

2. There are absolutely times, rare though they may be, that you need to disrupt a 1st year’a vacation. And that’s why they get paid $225k.

Some people want less money for less work & more individual freedom. (I chose that route.) Others want to earn every cent possible and have effectively said “I will get out of line at the Louvre on my only vacation this year to talk about your legal probs if it means you’ll pay me obscene dollars.”

Depends on what “treated like shit” means. Some treatment shouldn’t exist in our profession regardless of comp. But other aspects - extremely long hours, extremely insecure schedules, extremely connected communication - should be left to an individual to decide whether comp is worth it.

There seems to be some tension between “juniors are massively overpaid” and “juniors need to negotiate better conditions.”
