Crazy that, in a world of relentless spinoffs etc, a Roger Rabbit prequel series has never been mooted.

IMAGINE a prestige series about the glory days of Valiant & Valiant; The boys and Delores cracking cases among the Fleischer-era guys. Bar-fights with Popeye. Do it all in black and white.

Well…here we go again.

The only thing worse than opening the fridge and seeing this half a Capri-Sun I pegged closed, is the sneaking suspicion of that, the next time I open the fridge, I won’t see him…

…Until it’s too late.

There’s little that remains to say about this terrific bit of telly other than simply - what an absolute EMBARRASSMENT of riches this one gives us, in terms of weird white guy faces. Incredible specimens all round.

We all miss the trailer voice-over, but I also miss how they’d sometimes miss-pitch the film they were selling.

I remember the trailer for AKIRA called it ‘A state-of-the-art adventure’.

Though not patently false, it’s weird to call AKIRA an ‘adventure’ like it’s ‘An American Tail’ or something.
